Age UK Barnet

Seeking: Various volunteer roles
Description: We are a charity that supports older isolated local people in the area and we need activity volunteers to help out in various activities and in our day clubs for people living with mild dementia. We also need volunteer befrienders or shoppers to offer weekly chats or a light weekly shop to someone who can’t get out, Other volunteer roles include IT support, receptionist and admin.
Based: N2 area
Experience/skills necessary: Experienced pianist (music scores provided).
Commitment: This varies – some roles only require a couple of hours a week

Description: Sales person to handle and process advertising in a monthly community newspaper. Answering queries, processing orders, liaising with design and accounts depts. No cold-calling required.

Barnet Lone Parent Centre

Seeking: Creative volunteer support
Description: To deliver family friendly art and craft activities for lone parent women with children aged 0 to 11 years Barnet Lone Parent Centre provides V.I.P.@blpc, a monthly drop-in social group, for lone parent women with children aged 0 to 11 years living in the London Borough of Barnet. We offer a fun, safe space where families can enjoy time together, forget about day-to-day worries and make new friends. V.I.P.@blpc acts as a ‘gateway’; to other relevant support services and resources Key Tasks: • Supporting our families to do arts and crafts • Drawing, painting and creating. • Setting up the activity, moving tables and chairs if necessary. • Clearing away at the end of the session • Creating an inclusive environment. • Encouraging our families to pick activities they enjoy. • Ensuring our families are always safe. • Helping to create a social and friendly environment. • Regular commitment to ensure stability for our families.
Based: Green Man Community Centre, Stawberry Vale, N2.
Experience/skills necessary: What are we looking for? • You are person-centred and outgoing. • You are an artistic, creative person. • You have patience, empathy and a non-judgmental attitude. • You have excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, and communication. • You are enthusiastic. • You have the desire to support others.
Commitment: 4 hours each month every second Saturday of the Month

Description: We are seeking co-ordinators to liaise with and schedule external providers, primarily in the childrens’ area. We also need a parade co-ordinators to contact and liaise with schools and clubs taking part in the parade.
Based: Home. On-site over festival weekend.
Experience necessary: Basic IT skills preferred
Commitment: A few hours per week from September 2024. Will need to be available all weekend on 21/22 June 2025.
