Seeking: Honorary Treasurer/Trustee
Description: This is a voluntary role, ideally for an individual with a financial / accountancy background. ROLE OVERVIEW The Honorary Treasurer plays a vital role in overseeing the financial affairs of the Avenue House Estate Trust, which manages Stephens House & Gardens, a Grade II-listed estate. The Treasurer ensures the charity’s financial health, helping to preserve and develop this historic estate for public benefit. The role involves collaboration with trustees and the General Manager to maintain effective financial oversight and to support the charity’s strategic objectives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Oversight: – Monitor financial operations to ensure sustainable management of the estate. – Oversee financial processes, including income, expenditure and cash flow related to the estate’s various functions (e.g., rentals,hires, events). Budgeting and Financial Strategy: – Support the development of long-term financial plans, ensuring alignment with the trust’s goals to preserve the house & gardens. – Oversee annual budgeting including forecasts, working with the General Manager, and regularly review cash flow and reserve management. Financial Reporting, Compliance and Risk Management: – Present financial reports at trustee meetings, making complex financial data accessible to all. – Ensure compliance with charity regulations, Charity Commission submissions, and annual audits. – Lead in the preparation and presentation of the annual financial statements for the AGM. – Evaluate financial risks and opportunities, particularly related to the maintenance and development of the estate. As a Trustee: – Participate in the strategic direction of the Trust, contributing to discussions on governance, fundraising, community engagement. – Ensure legal and ethical compliance, working alongside fellow trustees to safeguard and promote the Trust’s mission.

Experience/skills necessary: Essential: – Experience in financial management. – Strong analytical and reporting skills. – Ability to communicate financial matters clearly to the board. – Interest in preserving heritage site and gardens for the public benefit. Desirable: – Professional accountancy qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA). – Experience in charity finance with charity-specific financial regulations (e.g., Charity SORP). – Experience in a finance function for a significant business or charity. – Familiarity with Sage.
Commitment: 4-6 hours per month

Finchley Food Bank
Seeking: General volunteers
Description: Key volunteering tasks Under the supervision of a session leader, volunteers undertake the following tasks: receive deliveries receive and sort food donations ensuring they are in date restock shelves meet and greet clients, making them feel comfortable support clients collecting food and toiletries at client sessions provide signposting support where appropriate set up and close down of the hall for each session remove rubbish / recycling as necessary.

You understand the importance and can maintain confidentiality about clients, staff, volunteers and donors. You are committed to embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion through every aspect of our work, including supporting our clients, staff, and volunteers. You are a team player. You are able to commit to the foodbank for at least two sessions a month. You are always punctual. Volunteers should be aged over 18. We are inclusive and welcome volunteers from all backgrounds.
Commitment: 2 sessions per month (sessions are 2-3hrs on Saturdays) for at least six months

Long Lane Pasture
Seeking: New volunteers
Description: Long Lane Pasture is a 2.6 acres wild meadow which has remained largely undisturbed for centuries. It was purchased in 1912 for ‘public entertainment and enjoyment’ and is a registered charity. We are a group of enthusiastic volunteers who are always on the look-out for like-minded people who would like to volunteer two hours of their time on a Saturday morning between 10 and 12 noon. The benefits are the joy of spending time outside in lovely surroundings and getting involved in the maintenance of the pasture throughout the year as well as witnessing all the hard work paying off in terms of seeing plants and trees thrive and the amount of wildlife attracted to the pasture.
